About the Free Yoga Class
Infused in all Honor Yoga Classes you will find a dash of philosophy/dharma talk, breathing/pranayama and elements of meditation.
Each class always ends with a delicious relaxing recovery/savasana with aromatherapy using Honors signature essential oils. Most classes are 60 minutes in length allowing you the ability to meditation before our after class guided by Honor Yoga Now’s professional meditations
What is Yoga?
The word yoga means to yoke. At its core, yoga is a practice that seeks to unite the physical, mental and spiritual body. A full sense of well-being is promoted through yoga, which distinguishes it from an aerobic class or many other types of exercise you might try at a gym.
Is Yoga safe?
Honor Yoga emphasizes a balance of strength, flexibility, and endurance. Through the use of props such as belts, blankets, bolsters, and blocks students can achieve precise postures safely and completely according to their particular body type and needs. All the poses, practiced mindfully, restore physical, physiological, and mental well- being. Honor Yoga teaches correct alignment of the spine and limbs in all poses and helps stimulate and balance all systems of the body recreating and/or maintaining harmony.
Why begin a yoga practice?
Yoga is a lifelong practice. It is no mystery that our physical well-being is closely tied to our mental well-being. The sutras tell us that the practice yoga is a means to remove the obstacles that disturb and distract our consciousness. The practice of asana is a wonderful way to begin to restore ourselves to good health. Asana practice allows us to focus and rechannel our awareness inward. Through the practice of asana we build strength and gain freedom and space in the body. We create a more nurturing and healthy environment within ourselves. The environment that we create within expresses outwardly in our relationships towards ourselves and others.
As Iyengar notes: “If we have peace within us, peace will follow with others, too. Then the world is also in peace. ”

LGBTQ Speaker Lisa Athan MA Grief Speaker
GLBTQ of Hunterdon County of NJ
June 4 2015
Topic Issues related to coming out.
Lisa Athan recently presented to 50 plus school counselors, social workers, psychologists, private practice practitioners and administrators at Care Plus in Bergen County, NJ, in
February, 2019 on the topic of LGBTQ Inclusive Schools and Responsive Counseling: Clinical Care, Intervention, Policies and Procedures.
The workshop provided an overview of the contemporary context for LGBTQ youth, a review of youth mental health issues that affect this population. Research in the past years has identified risk and protective factors for mental health, which point to promising directions for
prevention, intervention and treatment. Legal and policy successes set the stage for advances in programs and practices that may foster LGBTQ youth mental health as well as school success and safety.
Invite Lisa Athan to speak at your school on Creating Safe and Inclusive Schools for LGBTQ Students. I address teachers and staff in a professional development workshop on best practices for supporting LGBTQ students, ways to create safe spaces in school, important resources on a local and national level, ways in create inclusive curriculum, and providing education around issues such as gender identity,
gender expression and sexual orientation etc.
I provide parent programs to support and educate parents on issues around gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation as well as ways to best support and affirm their child or children. In addition we touch on how to encourage their children to be supportive Allys to other children in school and what is helpful and what is hurtful. We also discuss supporting the mental health challenges that some of these children are navigating often due to rejection, or the challenges of coming out, as well as coping with harassment and bullying issues that their child may be facing. .
I also provide assemblies for students as well as serve as a guest speaker in GSA’s.

Movie Night Love Simon
It’s Movie Night! Thursday, July 5th, 2018 at the Clinton Library
GLBT of Hunterdon County of NJ holds meetings in Clinton at the
North Branch County Library every 1st Thursday of the month from 6pm – 8:30pm.
On the agenda for this month’s meeting: Movie Night!
We’ll be watching Love, Simon (2018) rated PG-13
Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes.com with a 92% rating!
“Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. Directed by Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, The Flash, Supergirl), written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger (This is Us), and based on Becky Albertalli’s acclaimed novel, LOVE, SIMON is a funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love.”
So come join us for a flick this Thursday!

LGBT of Hunterdon County of NJ to host guest
speaker Jeanne LoCicero from The American Civil Liberties Union
Thursday, January 7th, 2016
Time 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
The American Civil Liberties Union is the leading national organization dedicated to defending and extending civil liberties for all people in this country. The office is located in Newark. Jeanne LoCicero will be the guest speaker. The Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution would only be well-meaning promises if people did not fight to protect them. The American Civil Liberties Union is the leading national organization dedicated to defending and extending civil liberties for all people in this country. We’re in the courts every day for hundreds of ordinary people when their rights to equal treatment, fairness, privacy, freedom of speech or religion are threatened. We staunchly support every person’s right to make personal decisions – without government interference – about religion, political ideals, reproductive choice, marriage, and other family and lifestyle matters. We are working to make sure that emerging technologies do not diminish our rights to privacy and that freedom of speech is protected in cyberspace. The ACLU is a leader in the fight for equal opportunity regardless of skin color, gender, or sexual orientation. Since our founding in 1920, the ACLU has learned that liberty must be defended over and over again. That’s why ACLU attorneys stand before the United States Supreme Court more often than anyone else except the government itself. And for every case we bring before the Supreme Court, we bring hundreds more nationwide to lower courts and community government boards. For more information,
