Nikki DiCaro Speaker on Opportunities for Success”,where Nikki will talk about “Personal and Professional Success After Transition

from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Opportunities for Success”,where Nikki will talk about “Personal and Professional Success After Transition

About Nikki DiCaro: I’ve been writing and publishing books across genres for the past several years. My approach to writing is simple, yet daunting; create the characters and allow them to take the story in whatever direction The Universe guides.

I’ve written twenty-eight books, including my most recent series: The Amelia Chronicles. I’ve also written and published four Thrillers, with complex plots and memorable characters, under the pen name D.D. Nicaro.

Writing has been both cathartic and emotionally fulfilling. I write for pleasure; mine as well as the pleasure of my readers. Nothing is more gratifying than to talk with readers and learn about their experiences with my characters.
I’m a recovering senior executive with background and experience across various industries. I have four adult children and seven grandchildren. In addition to writing across multiple genres, I also advocate strength and healthy independence in women. Amelia Ciracco is my newest character and she has a lot to say about many things that impact our lives. The Amelia Chronicles is the first full-length novel in this ten-book series and adds to the seventeen books I have published. I live in Media, PA with my two puppies, Lexi and Toby.

The Healing Journey

The Healing Journey

Welcome to The Healing Journey: Myofascial Release and Physical Therapy! I am delighted that you have found your way to my website! I created this therapy practice from my passion to help people live a pain-free active lifestyle. Over my 15+ years as a physical therapist I have continued to fine tune my skills by being an active listener to the needs of my clients and by being a partner in their health and wellness. At the Healing Journey, you will find a physical therapist who is truly committed to working with you to reach your goals!
If you are dealing with an injury or pain, I will work with you to find the underlying cause of your symptoms, not just put a band-aid on them! You may not currently be experiencing any pertinent health issues but are simply looking to take a proactive approach to your health and want a medical professional on your side to keep you the best ‘you’ possible! Either way, through a combination of hands on techniques and education, I will partner with you, so you are able to get back to whatever activities you had to stop, slow down, or simply want to be better at!
Believe it or not, your body has an amazing ability to heal itself; it is my job to provide you with resources and avenues to allow you to heal! I am honored to share my knowledge and passion with you and look forward to accompanying you on your own unique ‘healing journey!’

Myofascial Release
The John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® is considered to be the ultimate therapy that is safe, gentle and consistently effective in producing results that last. It is a complete mind, body, and spirit healing treatment. It is a hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.). A high percentage of people suffering with pain and/or lack of motion may be having fascial problems, but are not diagnosed.
The medical approach is to use medication so patients are temporarily free from pain, but does nothing about the “straightjacket” of pressure that is causing the pain. Traditional physical, occupational and massage therapy treats the symptoms caused by the pressure of the “straightjacket” of the Myofascial system, but does nothing about the “straightjacket” of pressure that causes and perpetuates the symptoms. This is why so many patients only have temporary results never seeming to get better with traditional therapy. Only Myofascial Release treats the entire Myofascial mind/body complex eliminating the pressure of the restricted Myofascial system (the “straightjacket”) that causes the symptoms.
Myofascial Release can help relieve back pain, headaches, whiplash, pelvic pain, neck pain, sports injuries, chronic pain, disc problems, migraines, pelvic floor dysfunction, neurological dysfunction, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, adhesions, carpal tunnel, jaw pain (TMJ), painful scars, scoliosis, sciatica, myofascial pain syndrome, and women’s health issues (this list is not all inclusive).
The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. The one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments using a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia. By promoting independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement and self treatment instruction, the client will experience an enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness.

Fascia

Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater. Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as, all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. In this way you can begin to see that each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia, like the yarn in a sweater.
Fascia plays an important role in the support and function of our bodies, since it surrounds and attaches to all structures. In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration. It has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When one experiences physical trauma, emotional trauma, scarring, or inflammation, however, the fascia loses its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted, and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Trauma, such as a fall, car accident, whiplash, surgery or just habitual poor posture and repetitive stress injuries has cumulative effects on the body. The changes trauma causes in the fascial system influences comfort and function of our body. Fascial restrictions can exert excessive pressure causing all kinds of symptoms producing pain, headaches or restriction of motion. Fascial restrictions affect our flexibility and stability, and are a determining factor in our ability to withstand stress and perform daily activities.

About Rachele DeCrescenzo, PT, MPT

I graduated from Fairfield University with a B.S. in Biology in 2001. I then went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2004. After graduating, I spent seven years working in the outpatient orthopedic field of physical therapy; four of those years as a director of an office while still treating clients. In order to further broaden my skill set, in 2011 I began working for a practice that focuses on older adult clients with a myriad of medical and functional deficits. For the last six years in that practice, I held a regional director role managing a team of 25-30 physical, occupational, and speech therapists, over 3 NJ counties, while also working with my own clients and continuing to hone my skills as a physical therapist.
I have long had a dream of opening my own practice! It was not until I fully discovered the John F. Barnes method of Myofascial Release, that I knew that dream could become a reality! I am beyond thrilled to be able to combine my 15+ years as a physical therapist with this invaluable approach to care and overall wellness in a safe, comfortable, and loving environment!
Please contact me to schedule an appointment and to learn more about how Myofascial Release can help you live a pain-free active lifestyle! I am available 7 days a week by appointment.

FAQs
Do I need a physician’s referral?

No, you do not need a physician referral to be seen by a licensed physical therapist (PT) in New Jersey. NJ has Direct Access which allows clients to seek care from PT’s without having to see a physician first. Seeing a PT first can save both time and money by receiving treatment for your aliment sooner. By performing a thorough evaluation, PT’s can identify the cause of your symptoms and can begin to address it. We are also trained to recognize red flags and medical conditions/complexities which are out of our scope of practice, so that we can refer you to a physician when/if necessary.
What can I expect on my first visit?

Prior to your first visit I will email you a client intake form which will give me background information on you and why you may be seeking my assistance. When you come in for your first session, we will sit down and discuss that form in detail. I will then perform a thorough evaluation, beginning my search for how to partner with you on your journey to optimal health and wellness. You will receive treatment at your first session. Since myofascial release is a hands on treatment performed directly on the skin without oils or lotions, I ask that you DO NOT use any body lotions on the day of your session. It is also preferable to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes; a pair of shorts, a tank top, bra, or loose fitting shirt is preferable when being treated. You are free to change in the office or the restroom prior to your session.

Connect

Laura’s authentic and warm speaking style encourages the audience to connect with her story and what it has to teach.

Learn

With more than 5 years of experience in LGBTQ+ support and allyship education, Laura brings insight, expertise, and real-world examples to your audience.

Build

Laura breaks down complex topics — like gender, sexuality, and identity — into manageable pieces. Then her audience can see how they fit into the more complex bigger picture.

Do

Laura’s mission is to empower others to ally, and she believes allyship without action is empty. Laura will inspire your audience to practice allyship, at work and in the community.

Hi, I’m Laura Hutchinson.

My pronouns are she/her/hers. I am an allyship educator committed to revolutionizing diversity, equity, and inclusion education.
I have rarely followed the path well-trod. Some would say I’ve taken lots of detours, but each path I have taken has led me to new experiences and new perspectives that I am able to bring along my journey. I have a Master of Science in Education, focused on college student personnel and have worked closely with college students for more than a decade. I have worked in corporate finance, hospitality, retail, faith-based non-profit, and higher education. These diverse experiences have led me to build relationships with many types of people. The thing I have found to be common among all people, especially those who experience marginalization, is a desire to simultaneously be authentically themselves and be respected and valued.
Through my focus on intersectional LGBTQ+ support, I have learned many strategies for seeing, understanding, empowering people on the margins, and collaborating with them and those in power to affect organizational change. I help communities practice proactive and authentic inclusion.
My award-winning research on what LGBTQ+ folks actually want and expect in allies led me to a paradigm shift in the way we think about allyship.

LGBTQ Speaker

My focus as your therapist is to give you the tools to have just one day where you are not overwhelmed with anxiety, fear, shame- whatever it is that feels like it is consuming you. One day where you can wake up in the morning and live.

Then, I want to help you make that one day every day.

Will be  Jessica Jarman, M.Ed, LPC

I’m a licensed professional counselor in Columbia, SC that works with LGBTQ+ clients looking for a safe space to work things out.

I graduated with my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling in 2013. I found myself specializing in trauma, spending several years as a therapist in a domestic violence center and then in substance abuse treatment.

When I arrived in Columbia I took on a support group for LGBTQIA+ teens and realized how few therapists we have that truly specialize in working with the LGBT+ community. I decided this is where I needed to be.

As a member of the LGBT+ community myself, you’ll never have to educate or defend your identity with me. I love to laugh, I’m sarcastic, irreverent, energetic and honest. I paint, draw, sculpt and sew. I have two dogs that I absolutely love and yes- I do want to see a picture of your pups.
